Carroll back running

Thinking of a return: Andy Carroll could be back in action soon
Andy Carroll has started running for the first time since his ankle surgery at the end of July.

West Ham’s England striker has taken the first steps towards his recovery after he was confirmed to be out for four months with torn ankle ligaments.

Carroll went under the knife in Baltimore after leaving the club’s New Zealand tour.

The striker is understood to be quietly confident of being back in action ahead of his scheduled return at the end of November.

His optimism is being tempered within the club, however, as Carroll missed the first half of last season after failing to recover as quickly as expected from his injury at the time.

It is nonetheless a big boost for West Ham who were dumped out of the Capital One Cup by League One Sheffield United at the end of August.

They were also beaten by Southampton - the last game before the international break - in the Premier League.

Re: Carroll back running
With Kouyate and Song in central midfield, two proper wingers, two very good full backs, two half decent centrebacks, a dodgy keeper and some options up front, we may, MAY start to look decent.

woooo so Carroll is close and Nolan is a month away, i just wait to get these two back in the starting XI so i can enjoy the brilliant football we have become accustomed too with them in the team.

Re: Carroll back running
Poor footballer?

Never heard him called that before.

I think he's a very good footballer, worried about his ongoing fitness/injuries, but he's a superb footballer that would get into most prem sides IF fit.

Re: Carroll back running
How come Physioroom now have 'no return date' after saying he would be back towards the end Oct.?

Personally I think he has some weakness in his feet/ankles and nobody knows how to treat it properly without risking long term damage.

Re: Carroll back running
"Easily marked out of games..."

Rubbish. When on form and fit he was virtually unplayable. In fact if you had to pick a list of players you would least like to come up against as a Centre back he would be right up there.
